About the event
1st May – Bamber Gascogine CBE Commemoration Row
On Sunday 1st May there will be a celebration of Club President Bamber Gascoigne’s life. Bamber was a great advocate for the use of the river and riverfront in Richmond and to celebrate his life a progression of boats, led by the shallop Jubilant, will be taking a row up-river from Richmond on the Sunday afternoon. The plan is for the group to assemble at 15:00 at Bamber's Steps downstream end of St Helena Terrace Richmond. This will leave around 15:30 and row up to the willows below Teddington before returning to Richmond after 16:20 high water. All are welcome to join, our club owes much to Bamber’s influence and it would be nice to see our club well represented.
Throughout the afternoon we will be running a bar at the RBBC offering refreshments, all proceeds will be split between the RBBC and the charity S4S, of which Bamber was the founder.
I hope that you can join us, either rowing or non-rowing, on the day. If you would like to take part in the row, please sign up via Wix - boats will be allocated nearer the time.
